Jane Goldman has worked as a writer since leaving school, beginning her career as a journalist on newspapers and magazines including The Times, the Evening Standard and Cosmopolitan. As well as three non-fiction books for young adults, she is the author of the number-one best-selling The X-Files Book of the Unexplained, which was nominated for a Writers’ Guild award, The X-Files Book of the Unexplained Volume Two, which was nominated for a Nibbie award, and a novel, Dreamworld.
Jane has also worked in television as a presenter, producer and writer on documentary and entertainment programmes, and currently works mainly in film, as a screenwriter.
For her first screenplay, Stardust (2007), Jane won a Hugo award for best screenplay and the Glamour magazine Women of the Year award for Best Filmmaker. Her second, Kick-Ass (2010), which she co-produced, again won her the Glamour magazine Filmmaker award, as well as awards from The Writers’ Guild (Best original Screenplay), Women in Film and TV (The UK Film Council Writing Award) and Total Film magazine (Best Writer). Her other screen credits include X-Men: First Class (2011) and the upcoming movies The Debt and The Woman in Black.
