Pen Farthing

Pen Farthing was born in Essex. A passion for the outdoors and a love of doing everything the hard way caused him to pop into a Royal Marine careers office one day aged 18 and never come out. A career of 20 odd years has seen him serving in Iraq and Afghanistan and when time has allowed, follow his passion for climbing big mountains around the world, most notably in Kyrgyzstan, the Alps, Canada, Ecuador and America. Pen is a fully qualified Mountaineering Instructor and loves every minute of teaching others to “touch rock”. Pen is married to Lisa and they share their home with four dogs, (3 of which are rescues) and all of them keep Pen and Lisa occupied to the max, which also includes running and managing the Nowzad Dogs charity, which was set up to help relieve the suffering of animals in war torn Afghanistan, a subject close to Pen’s heart after his tour of duty there.
