Gillian Slovo
Gillian Slovo has always been at home with the huge sweep of politics and its impact on ordinary lives. She is the author of a family memoir, Every Secret Thing, and nine novels, of which the most recent are Red Dust, and Ice Road, which was short listed for the Orange Prize. Her first play Guantanamo, written with Victoria Britten was hailed as "A must-see piece of theatre" by Metro while The Sunday Times wrote that The British Theatre indeed, every Briton should be proud of this play. Red Dust has been made into a BBC2 drama, starring Academy Award winner Hilary Swank and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Dirty Pretty Things, Melinda and Melinda) and directed by Tom Hooper.
