Annette Kobak
Born in London of a Czechoslovak father and English mother, Annette Kobak has written an acclaimed biography of the traveller Isabelle Eberhardt (‘a wonderful book – instantly absorbing and beautifully written’ – Bill Bryson), and translated Isabelle’s novel Vagabond from the French. She read her memoir Joe’s War: My Father Decoded as Book of the Week on BBC Radio 4, and writes and lectures on memoir and history.
